How many times in your school days you have written an essay on "Science & Technology: Boon or Curse?". Even not only in school, we see so many articles touching this topic in news papers and magazines.
Today i went thru the news that Internet Access in all IITB hostels, saying addiction to surfing, gaming and blogging was affecting students academic performance, making them reclusive and even suicidal. So its stands barred for a whole 12 hours!! Strange but true. How many of you will agree with me that in most of the cases of decline in academic performances, net facility has been a major factor, and this is true across i think all IIT's. We waste quite a lot of time on orkut and other similar sites. People have been so busy playing computer games that they don't have time for physical activities. People want to acquire skills of driving in a virtual circuits or killing villagers using eagle warriors, over other outdoor games.
It's an open debate which can never be convincing for the discussion to settle. But i think this is a positive move by the IITB administration so that people start socializing again. Hell not on orkut but in the real world. What's your say?

use the net only for 12 hrs....naaaah...i feel its need each time i switch the comp on....from my submissions to weather to ur blogs (lol)....its all thru net....as far as the socializing is concerned...a study says that a person can open up more on net or by mails (letters)than actually meeting f2f...
In this 12 hrs ban how can u ensure a student using the net rationally in that span of time....he still wud hv ample of time to get out of the crimson room(if u know wat i m talking about)....neways...i think its all personal discipline that will effect the addiction.....
well that reminds me of an interesting incident...we were giving our preliminary presentation to a v senior faculty member on his comp....and he was literally chatting on yahoo msger...trust me no exaggeration here...the name of the other side member was sweet_gem..and she/he was being informed by our teacher that he is busy taking a presentation and he is finding it boring (bloody hell with him)....two days later we found him chatting in the lunch hours....quite an addiction...not only this but there are many rumors of our teachers visiting not to be visited sites(:P)...
SO, its not only the students who need to follow the discipline but plzzz ask administration to check teachers cabins too........
